The Design — Three Layers of Meaning
What makes this piece exceptional is its architecture. Unlike a flat print or a single-layer cutout, this wall art is built in three distinct layers of hand-cut wood, each sitting above the other to create real three-dimensional depth:
The outermost ring is a full lotus mandala — twelve pointed petals radiating outward in perfect symmetry, each petal delicately cut and shaped from natural wood. The lotus in Indian tradition is the symbol of purity, spiritual awakening, and the divine unfolding of the soul.
The middle ring features a beaded dot border — a classical decorative motif seen in ancient temple architecture across Karnataka and South India. It creates a visual boundary between the outer world and the sacred centre.
The innermost circle holds the Om symbol itself — carved in raised relief from a smooth, warm-toned wood disc, sitting visibly above its base. The Om is full-bodied and beautifully proportioned — the kind of detail that only a practiced artisan’s hand can produce.
